Digital Fiber DAS

Digital Fiber DAS

With the demand for data increasing rapidly, alongside the customer requirement for coverage everywhere, regardless of location, the next generation of DAS provides mobile operators and building owners with a flexible, scalable system that meets this demand. Digital Distributed Antenna System (DAS) – provides an adaptable, customizable and expandable cellular and data coverage solution for multiple operators and services over a common infrastructure.

Multi-Band Digital Optical Transport System is designed to integrate multi-band systems and extend the coverage of Public Safety Radio and Commercial Cellular into large Public Venues, such as Hospitals, Hotels, Shopping Malls, Office Buildings, long Tunnels sections and large area outdoor coverage. Remote Unit Cascading and Fiber Loop Redundancy are supported.

The fully digital DAS platform uses a completely flexible CPRI-based high speed digital transport fabric. System nodes (Head ends and Remotes) are interconnected to suit the system requirements, with topologies from simple star connections to full mesh interconnection supported to suit all types of application and needs for redundancy and routing bandwidth.

The system software automatically registers connected nodes and adapts to provide the best routing, with deterministic routing delay allowing tight control of timing between MIMO and aggregated carriers.

Active POI

  • APOI is an Active Point of Interface used to connect various DAS feeders like BTSs (Base Transceiver Stations), Small Cells, or RRHs (Radio Remote Heads) and/or an Off-Air Repeater to the digital DAS system.
  • The supported services are: 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 plus 700LTE, SMR 800, Cellular 850, 1900 and AWS. Each BTSI can be either un-duplexed (separate ports for TX/RX) or duplexed (single port for TX/RX) configuration. Thus allowing different connections to different BTSs

Headend Units

The Optical Master Unit is a compact rack mounted design which can be fitted with up to 8 RF band modules. Each band module has a separate RF / digital conversion function, and any combination of frequency bands can be installed, with MIMO and carrier aggregation support across multiple RF band modules.

The OMU band modules contain functionality which requires a separate POI in competing solutions: the band module supports up to 4 RF connections at up to +30 dBm input power each, with simplex or duplex connections and automatic power levelling per input.

This functionality gives unequalled installation density: a complete multi-operator multi-sector installation can be supported by a single unit, or each operator can be allocated a separate band module if separation of analogue signals is desired.

For high reliability the Headend unit has redundant hot swappable power supplies, with simple replacement thanks to a front pull-out power supply module.

Digital Cellular Remote Units

High Power Remote units achieves +43 dBm RF output power per band in all bands supporting multi-operator and multi-band operation from 700 to 2600 MHz. The digital remote unit is an IP65, outdoor as well as indoor, four-band remote unit, where two units can be cascaded through a CPRI link to support eight bands. Each band can provide high-power of +46dBm per band.

Technologies covered:
700MHz / 850MHz / 900MHz / 1800MHz / 2100MHz / 2300MHz and 2600MHz

Digital Public Safety Remote Units

High power remote node for Public Safety achieves +46 dBm RF output power for PS-LTE bands and +40 dBm for UHF / TETRA. Up to 4 different bands can be fitted into the same enclosure and different technologies can be supported from the same unit. Our Public Safety remote unit is small, light weightand requires no cooling fans. This is particularly important since remote units are often installed in harsh environments such as tunnels, where air filters regularly need replacing. The absence of fans, and an IP65 environmental rating, make the Remotes maintenance free. Technologies covered:

AM/ FM and DAB for Broadcast Radio,
VHF / UHF / 700MHz / 800MHz and 900MHz for Paging, Two-Way Radio
